David Torn’s looping letter
In 2015, David Torn wrote “Looping for Guitarists: An Open Letter to FX Manufacturers“, asking them to develop more creative machines.
“dear folks who make looping-devices, esp. those which are marketed to guitarists: your products are decades behind the times; decades.”
Most existing boxes (such as the Roland loop stations) only contain relatively basic looping functions, good for singer-songwriters. Very few hard- and software loopers contain more advanced and experimental functions.
The letter, reposted in 2019, has inspired a lively and interesting discussion.
